Acronis Announces mobilEcho Integration with MobileIron AppConnect

Bringing Together Secure Mobile File Management and Secure App and Device Management for More Efficient Management and Strengthened Data Security

Woburn, MA – March 27, 2013 – With personal mobile devices fast becoming the first point of daily collaboration for many users, Acronis today announced that it is part of the MobileIron® AppConnect ecosystem in an effort to further the accessibility, availability and protection of critical data on such mobile devices. Acronis® mobilEcho is now integrated with MobileIron® AppConnect to help mobility IT managers better manage the growing number of mobile apps end users are adopting for greater productivity.

By integrating the secure mobile app and device management of MobileIron with secure mobile file management of mobilEcho, mobility IT groups are able to strengthen and standardize mobile app security and compliance, and configure apps from a central location. For users who have multiple business apps, this reduces risk as they no longer need to manage multiple apps or remember multiple passwords. AppConnect allows the end user to have direct, secure access to the familiar, easy-to-use mobilEcho app through which IT can enforce the data-security and data-access rights required by their organization.

“Mobile devices have had a profound impact on the corporate world, having become virtually ubiquitous across all industries and roles – sales, marketing, finance, legal, customer support, R&D, you name it,” commented Anders Lofgren, Director of Mobility Solutions at Acronis. “However, security, compliance and management are but a few of the questions that enterprises and IT are challenged to address. The integration of mobilEcho and AppConnect will negate many of these concerns allowing IT organizations to safely embrace a BYOD policy and improve their mobile strategy overall.”

“The app explosion has moved to the enterprise, and our customers are eager to give their users great apps as part of their Mobile First initiatives,” said Ojas Rege, VP Strategy, MobileIron. “MobilEcho is a perfect example of an app that enables a user to be productive from anywhere and from any device, and it is a great addition to the MobileIron AppConnect ecosystem.”

mobilEcho enables IT organizations to provide iOS™ or Android™  mobile device users with the identical secure and managed access to files and content on enterprise file servers, SharePoint® and NAS storage, that they experience from their laptop or desktop. This includes the ability to edit, annotate and collaborate on any documents. Access rights are integrated with Active Directory® to ease management and support compliance.

MobileIron, the leader in security and management for mobile apps, documents, and devices, provides its AppConnect technology to third party mobile app developers. AppConnect apps have been enabled with auto-configuration, data containerization, and secure tunneling to protect corporate data to give Mobile IT teams the policy and security controls they need.

Kerio Technologies Enhances its UTM Security and IP PBX Appliances for Mobile Devices

Kerio Control 8 includes an IPSec VPN server; Kerio Operator 2.1 Offers New Softphone Application

Kerio Technologies today announced that it has significantly updated two products for the evolving IT network. Kerio Control 8, a UTM security appliance, now includes IPSec virtual private network (VPN) capabilities. Kerio Operator 2.1, an IP PBX phone system, now features a native softphone application, which allows users to connect to their Kerio Operator phone line via their smart phone. Both enhancements are designed to provide more flexibility to IT managers and employees that use popular iOS and Android smart phones.

“BYOD has changed the way we function, and the corporate IT network must change as well,” said James Gudeli, senior director of business development, Kerio Technologies. “With the addition of the IPSec open standard connectivity, iOS and Android devices, including iPads, can securely connect to the corporate network. Our new Operator softphone application will convert an iPhone or Android phone into a VoIP handset, letting people make and receive calls via their office number from anywhere.”

IPSec is the industry standard protocol for VPN that allows interoperability between different external devices and the network gateway. Kerio Control 8 includes IPSec VPN with support for the current iOS and Android mobile clients. It also supports standards based VPN server-to-server configuration with several leading UTM vendors. Most importantly, all of Kerio Control’s traffic policy configurations, protocol inspection, anti-virus and QoS settings can be applied to the IPSec VPN tunnels.

The Kerio Operator Softphone, available on the iPhone and Android, is a SIP-based phone application that uses a Wi-Fi or cellular data network to connect to the IP PBX server. It makes phone calls easy with an intuitive interface that includes all of the standard phone features such as integrated contacts, call display, call history, voicemail and multiple call support. Multitasking functionality also allows the Kerio Operator Softphone to run in the background while you use your device, allowing you to reference other applications while on a call.

“I look around and see iPhones everywhere. Getting them tightly integrated into the office network is a challenge,” Sam Wilson, president of swc group, LLC, a Kerio certified partner in Chicago. “It starts with a secure connection to the corporate network and continues into communication, so the new Kerio Control and Operator make perfect counterparts for the iPhone.”

A Kerio Control software server license starts at USD$265  and includes 5 users. Additional users are USD$26 each. Hardware appliance pricing starts at USD$985 for the Kerio Control Box 1110 with 5 users, which includes Sophos gateway antivirus and Kerio Control Web Filter. Kerio Operator is USD$30  per user. The Kerio Operator Box 1210 hardware appliance is priced at USD$900.

Both Kerio Control 8 and Kerio Operator 2.1 are available for download immediately with a 30-day unrestricted evaluation period.
